This interactive JavaScript-based presentation is designed to be viewed with Internet Explorer, Version 5.0 or higher. Please note that it does not work at all with Mozilla Firefox and Netscape browsers, for some crazy, inexplicable reason. With Microsoft IE, however, you'll be able to view some of the most common functions of the OPAMICS Office View Screen.
As you pass your mouse pointer over a particular screen object, a brief explanation of the item or program function appears in a pop-up text box. If you click on certain icons, image/radio buttons, and map objects, samples of the type of information provided by OPAMICS is displayed in the Information Frame on the right side of the browser.
If you're interested in learning more about the power of OPAMICS, please contact us. We can assist you in gaining a much tighter control of your valuable outside plant investment.
Office Map function: This button regenerates the original office view (shown in the larger map) after you have used the Zoom Level radio buttons to zoom in on a section of the map.
View Options: When you click on this button, a checklist of map visibility options is displayed in the frame on the right. You can display (or hide) streets, conduit, pipes, etc.
Zoom Level Buttons: These radio buttons offer options for navigating or zooming in on sections of the main map display. The first group of three allows you to quickly change map elevations and map position to view office sites or assets. The buttons in the lower group bring you in closer than initially selecting the IN button. The SITE button produces a display that represents a 1500 foot view of the office; SECTION generates a 3500 foot view; and AREA displays a view from approximately 7000 feet.
Identify function: This button is used to identify specific map components, such as assets, air pipes, etc. First use Zoom Level control to enlarge the section of the map you are interested in so that you can more easily select the item you want to identify. Information is displayed in the frame on the right side of the browser.
Navigation Tree: This link produces a navigational tree in a separate popup window. The tree lists all of the offices available for a user's defined login level. To launch the Office View display in your web browser for the selected office, double click on an office name.
Preferences function: Selecting this button allows you to set one of four main map display sizes.
Help function: This button launches a separate OPAMICS On-line Help browser, which contains information about the program, plus comprehensive cable pressurization reference material.
Open Activity function: The last radio button in the frame produces a popup window with form data for logging and/or closing a construction or maintenance activity.
Vicinity Map: This map is a small representation of the entire office. As you zoom in on the main map, a red rectangle is drawn on the vicinity map to identifiy the location of the main map display within the defined office boundary.
Main Map: The larger map contains the GIS portion of the Office View Screen. Browser data is grouped into several map layers, which are selectively displayed over a base map.
Alarm data: Clicking this icon produces a list of any current alarms for the office. Information is presented in the information frame on the right side of the browser display.
Activity data: This button lists information pertaining to Cable Openings, Tasks, Truck Stops, and non-telco construction activity (such as road work, sewer hookups, etc.) that has taken place in the the proximity of the underground cable plant.
Asset data: All asset categories associated with the office, such as CO compressors, cables, pressure devices, and air pipes are displayed in the right information frame when this icon is pressed.
Task data: Information about routine maintenance functions that are not considered by OPAMICS to be alarms are displayed by clicking this icon. Typical information includes: Task Number, Device Number, Device Type and Description.
Index data: Clicking this button produces an SQI (System Quality Index) for each of the routes in the current office.
Site data: Selecting this icon displays all of the sites (manholes, poles, etc.) for the current office.
Yellow Circle: This designates an identified site location on a route. With the Identify button selected, clicking on the circle will produce address and location information, as well as device and air pipe data, if applicable.
Green Circle: : Identifies the location of non-telco construction activity (such as road work, sewer hookups, etc.) in the proximity of underground cable plant.
Enterprise View: You can select this link to get a general map of the region which encompasses all of the offices available to you. Depending upon your user access level, this may be as limited as one or two offices or as inclusive as an entire region, state, country or company.
Form Data: Activating this checkbox enables you to view and/or modify OPAMICS database information in a form format that appears in a popup window. If you have data entry privileges, you can create, update and modify office and device information in the Form Data window. This information is accessed by first generating data in the Information Frame on the right and clicking on a hyperlinked office, pipe, site, device, etc.).
Reports: This OPAMICS function, which has not yet been implemented in the initial OPAMICS release, will eventually provide direct database access for the generation of both standard and customizable reports.
Office Name Display: The name of the selected office is listed here. With the exception of some supplemental screens, this is the only place that the Office Name appear in the web display.
Map Legend: This button produces a popup window that explains all of the colored icons that appear on the main map display. As various view options are selected, information for the Devices icon is expanded accordingly.
Hold: This check box control locks the present position of the map so that when you select another item, using the Identify button, the current map level and position do not change.
